Does this look like the face of an abusive man?

Let me just start off by saying that although I consider myself to be a reasonably intelligent black woman, I am a black woman who willingly admits to watching reality t.v. I don't fall in line with the likes of pro-black, feminist radicals who believe that only people with a low level of intellect, would indulge in watching such demeaning depictions of African Americans, women in particular. I am one who is intelligent enough to realize that, although these shows are not scripted, they are, in fact, somewhat staged in an effort to create these precarious situations that castmembers often find themselves embroiled in. (Does anyone remember last season on Love and Hip Hop, during the reunion special, when producer Mona Scott basically stopped shooting in the middle of the fight between Erica Mena and Kimbella, saying that they needed to re-shoot the scene? Really?) So, in my eyes, you have to be smart enough to realize that these shows are purely for entertainment, which in my eyes, is no different than a scripted movie that has a ridiculous fight scene, or scenes involving explosions, decapitated body parts, etc. Do they go too far sometimes...yes they do! But honestly, if they didn't...would you even bother to watch? (Come on, tell the truth :-) Now, let me climb off my little soapbox and get back to the subject at hand.

Did you all watch this week's episode of Love and Hip Hop: ATL? Before any rumors get started, let me just say that there are no PUBLISHED reports of Stevie J, ever assaulting anyone. However, I am one who pays attention to body language. Stevie has, on several occasions, looked like it took everything in him not to slap the SHIT out of Joseline! This week's episode in particular, when he was standing outside speaking with her, near the truck, when she stated that she didn't have shit to say to him, he paused...then looked around as if to say 'Bitch, if these camera's weren't here I would beat your ass, like I normally do!' Even with the cameras watching, he still had to try to display some form of control over her, by telling her to 'watch her mouth' and to 'be a lady'. Was he worried about her reputation as a lady when he essentially blackmailed her into silence about their sexual encounters because he was not a single man? He also displayed the same level of restraint when she initially told him that she was pregnant. He looked as if he was livid, but just could not let the cameras catch that side of him. I just find it hard to believe that this is who Eve made her infamous sex tape with! But now that I think about it, Eve was a stripper prior to becoming a rapper. I guess he knows what he likes, huh?

As a side note, although I previously had no sympathy for Joseline, sleeping with a man who was clearly involved, and lying to protect him, I do have to say that after hearing her story this week, I did start to feel for her and the path that she has traveled. Some people grow up in an environment where they feel as if they have to get out of their situation by any means necessary, and it sounds like she did just that. It may not have been and ideal way to do it, but she did it, and I have to respect that. (Hell, if y'all only knew some of  shit I've done..Whew! lol) As for Mimi...(sighs) I don't think I can discuss Mimi. I don't even think I'm in a position to discuss Mimi. All I can say is that, I have been in not-so-healthy relationships, as I am sure many of us have been, whether we choose to admit it or not. I will also say that I'm sure that I didnt leave that relationship when everyone else thought that I should have. People just  have to accept that when a woman is ready to leave...she will leave. Not a minute sooner, nor a moment later. It doesnt ALWAYS have anything to do with her being stupid, or having low self-esteem. Some women just love so hard, that it's difficult to let go until they realize that there is absolutely no hope. HOWEVER....lol....I would venture to say that if this level of outright disrespect, betrayal and emotional abuse was captured on camera for the world to see...lol that might make it a LITTLE BIT easier for ANY woman to walk away! I can't say that she is sticking around for the money, because from what I understand, he has 3 or 4 other children, whose delinquent child support has caused his wages to be attached. There are also reports that he made numerous mistakes as far as his money was concerned, that left him broke. (The house that he provided for Mimi, i'm sure was something that was provided by the show, as she did not keep it. What women do you know, who is working as a janitor basically--remember he said she had a cleaning company, but it looked as if she was the one doing the cleaning--would turn down a house from their 'baby daddy' no matter what his reason for buying it was?) So, if not for the money, she may be staying for the sake of the show, which no doubt has brought her a level of celebrity that she wouldn't otherwise have. Based on the popularity of all the 'Wives' franchises, I would say that's a safe bet!

Whatever her reasons are for staying, maybe the flack she is getting for representing herself in, what some people think, is a poor light, and whatever fame and fortune she receives from being on the show, will give her a means to walk away. Trust me, the 20% that she claims she 's gonna get from Joseline, surely won't amount to much! I can barely stand to listen to her talk! I damn sure don't want to listen to her on a record! lol We will see!

This is the truth....According to Sweetface!
